Hello!  We are Lorna and Al - the husband and wife owners of The Happy Homesteader.

We opened The Happy Homesteader because we have always been passionate about homesteading and celebrating the beauty of British Columbia.  Homesteading refers to a lifestyle of self-sufficiency, otherwise known as ‘getting back to basics.’  Features include subsistence agriculture, fence building, food pickling and preservation, home brewing, sausage making, bread baking and, of course, beekeeping.

The Happy Homesteader carries home food preservation equipment, such as canning supplies, grills, smokers, dehydrators, sealers, kitchen gadgets and so much more. We hand select every product we carry, to give you the opportunity to take home a piece of the homesteading experience.

We also carry everything a beekeeper could possibly need. From beehives to protective beekeeping clothing, we have it all the tools and supplies. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced beekeeper, we are positive that our fabulous little shop has everything you could possibly need.

We promote successful and healthy beekeeping. The Happy Homesteader is dedicated to educating beginner beekeepers. We love to share our passion and would love to help you start raising your own honey bees.

If you are interested, we also host classes for the avid and aspiring homesteaders in our community.

Check out our upcoming classes.
